SweetBay Customers
Working at SweetBay has its ups and downs. Some customers are supper nice and then you have the mean and creepy old people. One night I was closing (the store closes at 11) and I had one customer come in he got what he needed and he checked out. He was telling me how pretty I was and he had the bagger follow him out to look at his car. The bagger came back in and the man followed him, he came back up to my register and asked what I was doing after work and asking me personal questions. I felt very uncomfortable and I went and got the manager. Craig (the manager) came and asked the man what he wanted. Craig told the guy to leave the store before he called the cops. So the man got into an old beat up car of the passenger seat and they left. About 10 minutes later, the same guy called the store asking if he could speak to me. That's when Craig called the cops and they knew exactly who the guy was. He was earlier at Winn Dixie harassing one of their employees. The rest of the night I was so scared that he would come back, or be outside when I had to walk to my car. I called my dad and told him what was going on, so he met me at work and followed me home just to make sure the guy didn't. After that night I was scared to close again but I knew that if the guy came back then I would just have to get a manager and they would handle it.

I am a Sweetbay employee too! I don't mind the bagging/cashiering, but I do not like all the other stuff I have to do. Chores suck.
ReplyDeleteI worry about my daughter every time she closes at Payless Shoes in the mall. Whenever she can't find someone to walk her to her car, she calls me and I keep her focused on safety and tell her through the whole walk to the car what to look for. She appreciates it. just wish I did not live 2,000 miles away from my girls. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteThat is so scary. I've had so many things happen to me like that at work. I once held out my hand to receive money from a customer and he grabbed my hand and wouldn't let go. You gotta watch out for those weirdos.
ReplyDeleteWhen I use to work at Sweetbay I use to have the same creepers do the same things. One night I couldn't get a man to leave and then finally when he finally got out of the store he waited in the parking lot for close to an hour. If he hadn't left when he did I was calling my brother because I know he would come up and take care of the guy for me. Now working on Publix on the weekends I get stuck bag for a couple hours occasionally and some how I always manage to get the pervert men that want me to take their groceries to their car and I haven't found a loop hole out of that yet.
ReplyDeleteThat is scarry! There is alot of crazy people out there. Be Careful and get manager everytime you feel uncomfortable.
